FARMER'S MARKET
Offers a food growing program in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. This is a food growing program that educates the public about the relationship between agriculture, the environment, the food supply, and hunger. There is a fee which enables people to receive weekly shares of vegetables that can be picked up at a distribution site in Washington, D.C. or Maryland. These fees cover the May - November growing season. The vegetables not going to shareholders are brought into the City to sell for profit at vegetable stands in low income areas to help low income people become entrepreneurial. Half of the 400 agricultural shares are allocated to low income individuals.
